Bath Bombs

If you love a good, relaxing bath, you probably also love a good bath bomb.

I know they are super easy to find in the stores, but most of those are loaded with heavy fragrances.

We are learning that fragrance is an umbrella statement that can contain hundreds of chemicals that the manufacturer doesn’t have to disclose.

Do you really want to be (literally) bathing in that?? I know I don’t!

That’s when I started making my own and saw how easy it was!

Here’s what you are going to need….

Citric Acid (I like this one from Amazon, or you can purchase it at any bulk food store)

Baking Soda

Coconut Oil (solid or liquid will work – solid is usually less expensive and you just need to melt it before getting started)

Corn Starch

Bath Bomb Molds (I prefer to work with silicone molds because they are easier. Plus you can get way cooler shapes too!!)

OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS:

Soap Dye (this set has been my favourite to work with)

Polysorbate 80 (needed if you are using soap dye – find it here)

Dried Flowers (search Amazon and you will find a ton of options!)

Directions….

Measure 1 cup Citric Acid, 1 cup Baking Soda, 1/2 cup Corn Starch, and 1/2 cup Coconut Oil (melted) and place into a large stainless steel mixing bowl.

Add up to 20 drops of your favourite Essential Oil(s) and soap dye* or dried flowers. Mix everything together until you get the consistency of wet sand. Finish up by packing it tightly into your silicone molds and put in the fridge for a minimum of 4 hours – I usually leave mine overnight.

Once they have set, carefully pop them out of the molds and store them in an airtight glass container.

When you are ready for a bath, simply throw one in the tub while the water is running and watch it fizz and melt!

*If you are using soap dye, be sure to add 1 tablespoon of Polysorbate 80 to your recipe to prevent your tub or skin from staining!
