If you are brand new to essential oils, you are probably getting overwhelmed with all of the companies that are out there.

I don’t blame you.

There are literally hundreds of companies that sell essential oils now. You can buy them at your grocery store, drug store, Amazon, and even on eBay.

They all claim to be 100% pure essential oils, but all that really means is that up to 3% of that bottle has to be 100% pure oil. The rest can be synthetic fragrance, or any other chemical filler they can find to fill that bottle to the top.

When I started with dōTERRA, I heard about the Healing Hands Foundation. I never knew the full impact of it until I attended my first regional product training this past spring and heard David Stirling, one of the founding executives and CEO, speak about it.

Through this foundation and donations from customers, dōTERRA is able to go to their harvesting countries and build doctor’s offices, schools and supply the people with basic hygiene products.

In some villages, the locals would have to walk 2 hours to get clean drinking water. And that was just one way! Could you imagine a 4-hour round-trip every single day to get water? Through Healing Hands, dōTERRA is bringing water sources to these villages. Clean water for drinking, cooking and bathing.

Co-Impact Sourcing

This is another point that I knew about but didn’t REALLY know about. Many of our essential oils are sourced from developing countries. The harvesters used to be at the mercy of third party middle men who would take the majority of the profit when selling to distributors. dōTERRA felt a moral responsibility to the harvesters and their families, so they went straight to the source.

Sustainability

Sustainability is something that everyone should be concerned about. In 2016 there was an article published about the over harvesting of Frankincense trees. dōTERRA understood sustainability to be incredibly important, and so they decided to add a sustainability expert to their team to ensure the proper harvesting of the trees and plants from which they source.

Frankincense harvesting season never exceeds an 8 month window, and recently dōTERRA has pledged to allow all of their Frankincense trees a year-long rejuvenation break. Thankfully, for the consumers, dōTERRA has stockpiled a sustainable amount to supply the growing demand.

Testing & Source To You

When it comes to trusting a company, you want to know that they have nothing to hide. This is where testing and Source To You come in.

dōTERRA has created an internal standard called Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG), which was designed to hold themselves at a certain level of transparency and accountability. This title has been verified by the Aromatic Plant Research Center (ARPC), which is an independent third-party lab that handles all of the testing for dōTERRA.

There is a lot of testing that goes into the process before actually bottling the oil, starting with monitoring the soil from which the plants and trees grow. They test every single litre of oil, instead of random batch testing. The process starts with sight, smell, touch and taste, followed by rigorous testing for chemical contaminants, pesticides, fungus and so on.

All of these results are then put onto the Source To You (www.sourcetoyou.com) website. At any time, you can go onto this site, type in the lot number on the bottom of your bottle and be able to see every single test and result that your bottle has gone through.

I love this site, but I am definitely not a scientist. All I know as a consumer, is that if a company is totally comfortable with putting out all of their testing results for anyone to see, then they truly have nothing to hide and are committed to only selling the highest quality and purity of essential oils.

 

Education

dōTERRA has multitudes of education and training on their website, which is completely open to everyone, not just to their Wellness Advocates.

I am not the type to sit here and ramble on and on about something I do not believe in. Knowing that dōTERRA essential oils have worked for me and my family, I feel confident in recommending and helping others bring dōTERRA into their homes.
